Australian Doctors International (ADI) is a small not for profit organisation working to improve the health outcomes of people in rural and remote parts of Papua New Guinea. We deploy volunteer doctors on assignments (from 2-6 months) to work on our projects in Western and New Ireland Provinces to change the lives of communities living remotely. The volunteer doctor goes on patrol with local health workers to provide case based training and health education. ADI also organises in-service training to provide much needed upskilling for local health workers. Doctors value the experience citing adventure, gaining out of the box thinking skills and giving back as key motivators for undertaking a placement. To date ADI has placed over 50 doctors in PNG.
