Recognition as a GP for OTDs

Are you looking for Recognition as a GP in Australia? Do you have FRNZCGP, MRCGP or MICGP?

If so, then we have good news for you!

You will most likely be assessed as a Category 1 Doctor by the RACGP on the Specialist Pathway Program, and obtain your FRACGP on arrival in Australia.

What’s so special about being Category 1 with the RACGP?

You can work in Australia as an unrestricted specialist as soon as you arrive.   No exams, no supervision and full Medicare rebates.  And you are eligible to apply for Permanent Residency on arrival.

If you are not sure that you will be assessed as Category 1, feel free to send the team at Alecto your CV or give us a call and we will be able to help.  For more information about Category one doctors and to complete a self-assessment please visit the RACGP Website.

The registration process is a long one involving not just recognition as a GP with the RACGP, but also AHPRA, AMC, EPIC and Medicare which all takes about 4-6 months in total to get through.  At Alecto you get more than just recruitment, we are experts at helping GPs who are moving to Australia from the UK, Ireland and elsewhere.  We don’t recommend attempting to register in Australia by yourself as this can be quite a complicated process at times without assistance and it can be different depending on each individual.

Whether you are looking for a job near the beach or near the CBD, Alecto can help. We have over 100 vacancies around Australia, for a confidential chat please call +61 1800 604 332 or contact us via email at
